Our aesthetic focuses on an elegant blending of rustic and modern elements, embracing technology while honoring tried and true traditions - this new space embraces the architecture of the historic Georgian style building while mixing in our signature branding and style. High ceilings, hues of light blue tiles and walls and warm natural light make the café a welcoming, comfortable space. Designed by Rick Potestio, the café features an interesting metal and wood bar and the original tile floor.

The new Caffè Umbria is lovely. It’s smaller than the Pearl’s Umbria, which has for at least 10 years been my favorite place to meet friends, relax, or just people watch! Located just off the city’s South Park Blocks, this new Umbria, with its clean modern design, offers a perfect balance to the old world charm of the elegant Georgian building in which it is located—on the northeast corner of the Oregon Historical Society. Enjoying wonderful coffee and in-house baked goods while watching the bustle of downtown Portland pass by its windows delights one into thinking she is in the heart of an old European city. It perfectly captures the sentiment of the arts district in which it is set, a beautiful new jewel.
