We started the evening with a cocktail demo by 2017 Bartender of the Year Sabrine Dhaliwal, who is as delightful as her cocktail, Café Luchador.
30ml (1oz) Ancho Reyes Liqueur
15ml (0.50oz) White Crème de Cacao liqueur
22ml (0.75oz) Red Fruit Berry tea syrup
2 Dashes Bittered Sling Denman Bitters
The Craft Coffee Cocktail Challenge took over center stage as competitors made and submitted their cocktail creations to the panel of judges, including Sabine Dhaliwal,Claire Harriman from Roast Magazine, and our own Marie Franklin.

Thanks to all the competitors who brought their best game and helped make this a super fun evening. The winner, announced immediately following the competition, is Allison Paul, bartender/barista at Tutta Bella Neopolitan Pizzeria. She competed with the "Tall, Dark and Handsome", a cocktail conceived by Caryn Whiteford and made using our Gusto Crema Blend.
Tall, Dark & Handsome Recipe
1.25oz Maker's Mark Bourbon
.25oz Vincenzi Amaretto
.25oz St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram
.25oz Tuaca
.5oz Maple Syrup
3 dash bitters
Doppio Espresso (Gusto Crema Blend)
Combine all ingredients into a shaker pint and fill with ice.
Shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
Single strain into a couple glass with a cinnamon/sugar rim.
Garnish with a zested orange peel.
We finished up the night with a live performance by our own Sarah Gerritsen and the Shadow Catchers. What a treat. Superstars, every one of them. If you get a chance to see them live, tell them we sent you!
